Early last week, Academy Award winner and current Batman Ben Affleck posted a tweet that revealed a dope looking Deathstroke. Many assumed correctly that this indicated Deathstroke would be the one to face off against the Dark Knight in his solo movie, written and directed by Affleck. However, due to the nature of the costume, it was impossible to tell who exactly was playing the sword-wielding mercenary.
Well, we now have confirmation, thanks to DC’s chief creative officer Geoff Johns.
In his first interview as overlord of DC movies (pretty sure that’s what it says on his business card), Johns revealed that True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello was chosen to be Deathstroke.
Johns, who is helping write the Batman script along with Affleck, declined to say whether Manganiello’s Deathstroke would appear in Justice League. It’s extremely likely that Deathstroke will appear in Justice League, as the footage displayed in Affleck’s tweet looks too polished for a screen test, and considering that the earliest we’ll see a Batman movie is 2018.
Justice League drops November 17th, 2017.
