John Smedley leaving Daybreak Games and starting a new company

Nearly a year ago Daybreak Games president (then Sony Online Entertainment) John Smedley became embroiled in an online confrontation with Lizard Squad, the Twitter war eventually lead to the grounding of a commercial flight and an investigation with federal authorities.

Fast forward to last month and it was announced that Smedley would be stepping down from his role at Daybreak and transitioning into an undetermined role with the company with COO Russell Shanks taking over. Hit that fast forward button again and we now have an announcement that Smedley will actually be leaving Daybreak entirely and starting a new company. Smedley commented that while he isn’t ready to announce anything formally yet, details should be coming in the next few weeks as to new company he will be heading.
