The Week 2 roster update for Madden NFL 16 isn't full of surprises. Andrew Luck and the Colts are playing terrible, so he is dropping. Luck is actually losing 2 points on his OVR to bring him to 90, -2 to Throw Accuracy Mid (82), -3 to Throw Accuracy Deep (71), and -3 to Play Action. Needless to say, no one expected this from Andrew Luck after the team signed WR Andre Johnson, RB Frank Gore, and drafted WR Phillip Dorsett to go along with TY Hilton and Coby Fleener. And so afer two losses to the Bills and Jets to start the 2015 NFL season, Luck deserves to drop a bit.
Luck wasn't the only player that struggled in Week 2 though. After a perfect Week 1, Titans QB Marcus Mariota dropped 1 point in OVR to land at 79. He can't be perfect every week. The circus that is the Philadelphia Eagles is also resulting in a -1 OVR loss to both HB DeMarco Murray (91) and QB Sam Bradford (79). I figured that getting off to the worst start in NFL history for a runningback (2 games, 21 attempts, 11 yards) would result in more than losing 1 point.
But what Madden taketh away, Madden also giveth. Ravens RG gained a +1 in OVR to join the 99 Club. And a three TD performance by Larry Fitzgerald earned him a +2 OVR (90), +3 to Speed (85), +1 to Catching (94) and +2 to Catch in Traffic (92).
The big story, though, is Johnny Manziel.
Johnny Manziel didn't play perfect in relief of Josh McCown in Week 1. But in Week 2 he played pretty well in his start, throwing two touchdowns of 50 and 60 yards to WR Travis Benjamin, and out-dueling Marcus Mariota. Manziel increased in overall +2 (73), +1 Throwing Accuracy Short (85), +2 Throwing Accuracy Mid (76), and +2 to Throw Accuracy Deep (63). Considering he can only throw the deep ball, I thought that would be higher.
Buuuut… Josh McCown is back this week and starting. Sorry Johnny.
