JoWooD Productions The Nations Gives Peace
a Chance
Players Choose Between Brain or Brawn in
JoWooDs New PC Strategy Game
Vancouver, WA (June 13, 2001) In JoWooDs The
Nations, players get to exercise their God skills to build a successful
nation comprised of several different tribes. Unlike its predecessors, this
game allows players to choose between using force to combine the tribes under
one rule, or using diplomacy to unite the tribes peacefully. Either way, the
player will have to employ strong leadership skills, as the wonderfully
detailed tribe members have an advanced AI and may not always follow their
leader. Just as with real life, tribe members react to their leader’s
management style, displaying realistic mood swings that surprise and engage
the player.
The player starts with one tribe and needs to
grow their nation from there. In addition to exhibiting strong leadership
skills, the player will need to establish trade, support R&D, and even
find diplomatic solutions to threatening conflicts in order to entice members
from other tribes to join their flock. To build a flourishing nation, players
will need to keep their people happy, and should communicate often with
members of their tribe to assess their contentment level. If members of your
tribe are happy, have enough room, enjoy acceptable living conditions and are
not located next to a military base, they may even start building their own
houses. This leads to larger and larger villages, and may attract others from
different tribes. Keep in mind, however, that a players tribesmen can also
defect and join other tribes if they are not happy in their current
circumstances.
Obtaining heaps of money is not the goal of
this game. Currency acquired by trade is mainly used to pay soldiers, whereas
diplomacy is important for alliances and the exchange of technologies between
various tribes and nations. If players choose to play forcefully and hire
soldiers, they must keep in mind that strong leadership skills are still
necessary. Soldiers too can turn against their leader and coups can occur.
Its the players choice, peace or pain. You
decide.
