Jurassic World trilogy confirmed

Director Juan Antonio Bayona has confirmed that not only is Kevin Trevorrow working on the next chapter of Jurassic World, but a trilogy is definitely in the works.

The idea of having three Jurassic World movies, much like the previous Jurassic Park trilogy, has been discussed here and there, but now it is seems concrete.

Speaking to Latina Review, Bayona said: "It’s very interesting. The whole ‘Jurassic World’ is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story.

"I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.”

Bayona's quotes seem to suggest that Trevorrow had always handled the first Jurassic World movie as part of a bigger picture, which is an outlook that could reflect well upon the upcoming sequels.

After all, many movie franchises tend to bring out an original first movie, see it deliver in box office and then grind out more films as a result, which doesn't always resonate with viewers to say the least.

Jurassic World 2 has not yet been given an official name, however it is expected to release on June 22, 2018.
