Rico Rodriguez might be coming soon to a theater near you.
Eric Eisner’s L+E Pictures has optioned the film rights to Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause video game series, reports Variety. The open-world action franchise tells the story of a black ops agent who specializes in infiltrating and destabilizing rogue nations for the U.S. government.
L+E Pictures will develop the film with producer Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Productions. The script is being written by Michael Ross, who also penned the 2006 film Turistas and the upcoming film Jar City.
Askarieh is no stranger to video game adaptations. He worked on the film version of Hitman, and is currently producing an adaptation of Kane & Lynch for Millennium Films and Lionsgate.
