Kan-Ra joining Killer Instinct: Season 2’s roster on Monday

Microsoft Studios and developer Iron Galaxy have shared a new video and a slew of screenshots for Killer Instinct: Season 2's newest character, Kan-Ra, joining the roster on Monday, November 24.

Cursed to rot after a failed assassination attempt on his king over 2000 years ago, Kan-Ra endured for centuries by constantly balancing the curses he places on himself with the boons provided by dark magic and artifacts. His solitary goal: to gain knowledge that will grant him absolute power over all of mankind. After getting imprisoned by Maya’s order hundreds of years earlier, an Ultratech attack on Maya’s city accidentally frees Kan-Ra—releasing him back onto an unsuspecting world that’s full of new mysteries and ripe for his… dissection. 

Kan-Ra draw his powers from the dark sorceries he's mastered. He's got a unique combination of ranged attacks, nasty ground and air-based traps, and situational mobility. Iron Galaxy warns that players will "be challenged" to master his distinct playstyle.

Kan-Ra will be available on Monday, November 24 for Season 2 Ultra Edition purchasers, and then on Sunday, November 30, for Combo Braker Purchasers. Alternatively, characters can be bought individually as well. As a reminder, here's what both versions entail:

The Ultra Edition includes all eight Season 2 fighters, starting with currently available TJ Combo and Maya and the remaining six Season 2 fighters rolling out on a monthly basis (with Kan-Ra kicking this off on Nov. 24). Fans receive 16 accessory sets and eight exclusive costumes designed by Kevin Bayliss, art director for the original Killer Instinct arcade games, in addition to Killer Instinct 2 Classic (ESRB: M “Mature”), a perfect port of the 1996 arcade game with full multiplayer support over Xbox Live and 1000 Gamerscore to earn. Even more, owners of the Season 2 Ultra Edition will get initial access to characters and customization items before they’re available to Combo Breaker Pack owners or for individual sale starting in November.

Kan-Ra is just the latest character to join the Killer Instinct: Season 2 roster. Additional Season 2 characters will continue to be released on a monthly basis until the season ends in spring 2015.
