Gallivanting around the web leads you to discover a great deal of interesting information that serves no purpose in the real world. Recently, it was brough to my attention that the Boss Intro for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System's Super Godzilla sounds pretty darn similar to Katy Perry's Dark Horse when you first hear it.
Before we get into things, let's be clear here – pointing out the similarity between the two songs does not mean that I am saying Perry ripped off the SNES' Super Godzilla Boss Intro tune.
When you first hear the tune, it will sound wildly familiar. The reasoning behind this is that the synth-filled descending arpeggio that both songs utilize (hey, even T-Pain uses it in Booty Work). It's been around for a while and got big the 80's and it's not going anywhere, ok? Also, in case you were wondering, the SNES Super Godzilla music is a remix of the Godzilla soundtrack from the 50's.
Here's the Super Godzilla song in question (that will likely get Dark Horse stuck in your head):
Here's the Katy Perry song (honestly, when you hear this they sound less similar – but for a second they were totally the same):
Let's just note the Stargate and Mars Attacks throwbacks in the video.

Perry isn't my jam, but I respect the Mars Attacks easter egg.
