Sony Computer Entertainment's Kaz Hirai is stepping down as representative director and chairman. He will remain on the board on a part-time basis and continue to uphold his role as CEO and president of Sony Corporation.
Taking Hirai's place on the board is Andrew House, coming on as representative director, president, and group CEO of the division.
Hirai joined the company in 1995 and played an integral role in its success with the original PlayStation and the PlayStation 2.
This year, Sony responded to four-time annual losses by taking pay cuts and returning yearly bonuses. They also requested that shareholders name a new Board of Directors — to include Hirai.
Andrew House has served 20 years with Sony and has held a number of key positions in America, the UK, and Tokyo.
