Zen Studios has announced today the next-gen release of two of their games: CastleStorm and Kickbeat. Both titles will be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 with new features and additional content.
First up is CastleStorm – Definitive Edition, a mashup of medieval warefare, 2D physics-based destruction, tower defense, and melee brawling. The entire original campaign along with its expansions will be coming to Xbox One and PS4, as well as brand new content including new battles, modes, spells and features. On PS4 it'll run at 60 FPS 1080p (Xbox One not mentioned). We gave the game's original release a 6.5/10, with reviewer Alex Faciane calling it "a polished game that doesn't know what it wants to be."
Kickbeat – Special Edition, a kung-fu themed rhythm fighter, is also coming to both consoles with new features, additional soundtracks, and other enhancements to the original campaign. The game combines beat-matching mechanics with an acrobatic style of martial arts. It also features a music analyzer that allows you to create new tracks from your own music libraries. Kickbeat scored a 5.5/10 when released, but was said to "have potential."
“It is an exciting time for independent developers and we definitely feel strong support from both Microsoft and Sony in helping us bring our games to these new consoles,” said Mel Kirk, Vice President of Publishing at Zen Studios. “Our community has been shouting at us to bring games to Xbox One and PlaySation 4. Today it is a relief to let them know that games are on the way!”
Both games are due out "in the coming months."
