Kickstarter pledges totaled $480 million in 2013

Last year, backers pledged $480 million on crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

At 3 million people from 214 countries and territories — and all seven continents — that's $913 a minute (or $1,315,520 a day) pledged to the 19,911 successful projects of 2013. Kickstarter revealed these numbers and more in an online, interactive year-in-review slideshow.

Thousands more previously funded projects came to fruition last year. Among them were the Oculus Rift virtual-reality display and Android microconsole Ouya.
