Killzone 2 and 3 Servers To Be Shut Down By Guerilla Games

Guerilla Games, known for their wildly popular title Horizon: Zero Dawn, was also once upon a time known for a pretty successful PS3 trilogy: Killzone. We learned this morning that Guerilla Games will be shutting down the servers for Killzone 2 and 3.

The Killzone series also had a robust single player campaign for each game, so the shutdown is less foreboding than it sounds, although the online functionality of both games will no longer be accessible.

A post was made on Guerilla Games’ website:

“On March 29th, 2018, after more than six years of operation and countless battles between the ISA and the Helghast, the online servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be decommissioned. The single player campaign for both games will remain accessible, but online play and related functionality will no longer work.

As we near the end of the online lifecycle for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, we’d like to express how grateful we are for all the support and feedback we’ve received from the community over the last eight years. Your enthusiasm is what drove us to hone our craft and grow as a studio. We hope you enjoyed playing Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 online as much as we did creating them.”

Get your kills in Killzone 2 and 3 while you can, because come March 29, it will be a thing of the past. Guerilla Games is nowhere near waning however, as they recently released DLC for the already successful Horizon: Zero Dawn called The Frozen Wilds which GameZone’s Mike Spletchta called it “Another reason to revisit one of this year’s best games.”
