Killzone Shadow Fall developer working on a ‘really awesome’ new IP

Guerrilla Games isn't taking any time off after releasing Killzone Shadow Fall in November alongside the PlayStation 4. The developer is continuing to support the widely-successful first-person shooter with fresh content, while also working on a new IP that is "completely different" from the Killzone franchise.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Guerrilla Games producer Poria Torkan summed up as much as he could about the new IP without giving away any juicy details. "It's really awesome!" Torkan said. "It's exciting times. If I even say one word people will kill me."

The new IP has been rumored to be a role-playing game, but whatever the project ends up being unveiled as, Torkan said he's excited to see a major technical leap from Shadow Fall.

"If you compare Shadow Fall to the first games on the PS3, so if this is like the first generation of games which are coming, god knows what they will be like in four or five years," Torkan said.

"Compare the first games that came out on the PS3 to The Last of Us or GTA5. It's amazing. That's the thing. We had two-and-a-half years to figure out what we wanted to do with our engine and one-and-a-half years to figure out what we wanted to do with the hardware. Imagine when comparably technically advanced studios get four or five years under their belts with the hardware.

"We'll get our chance!"

As of January, Killzone Shadow Fall has sold over 2.1 million copies. A co-op expansion for the game is set to release sometime in the near future.
