Kim Kardashian: Hollywood developer to launch new game with Britney Spears in 2016

Glu Mobile has reportedly signed a five-year deal with pop star (is she still a star?) Britney Spears, clearly hoping to replicate the success they've had with their other celebrity partner, Kim Kardashian. According to the details, the game, which is due for release in 2016, will feature Spears' "voice, likeness, and creative influence."

It's unclear what genre the game will fit into, but I'd expect something similar to Kim Kardashian's red carpet adventure which has you create your own celebrity and participate in all sorts of events with Kim and her friends.

"I am thrilled to add Grammy Award-winning legend Britney Spears to Glu's growing list of partners as we continue to expand our celebrity gaming platform," said CEO Niccolo de Masi. "We anticipate the title resonating tremendously with Ms. Spears' nearly 90 million multi-generational social followers around the world."

Britney Spears is far from the pop star she was in the late 90's, early 2000's, but she still commands quite a following. Does that mean Glu can replicate the success they've had with Kim Kardashian: Hollywood with Spears as the face of a new game?

If not, they've always got Katy Perry. The company announced a similar five-year deal with the more relevant pop star back in February.

"Katy is arguably the most recognized musician in America following her Super Bowl XLIX Halftime performance this past Sunday. She is a cultural icon and we expect to translate key elements of her success into an innovative, highly entertaining mobile experience," said de Masi.

"We anticipate that Katy's significant global audience, including more than 170 million fans on social media, will make her a strong gaming partner for Glu."

Spears may not be the same "Hit Me Baby One More Time" star she once was, but I think if Glu can make a fraction of what Kim Kardashian: Hollywood generates, they'll be in a good place.
