Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy VII Remake director talks Keyblade transformations, FF7 Remake battle details

Square Enix is quietly working on two of the most anticipated games for a number of gamers. There haven't been many details on as far as development goes, but we do know Fantasy 7 Remake "progressing" and Kingdom Hearts 3 still has "untouched worlds."

Director Tetsuya Nomura, the man directing both games, sat down with Japanese magazine Famitsu (via Gematsu) and has offered up new details on both upcoming games.

On Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura further detailed what transformations we can expect from the Keyblades:

“The Keyblades we’re currently making have two transformation patterns. It should be noted that similar to the Keyblade that transforms into a tank and shield that we showed this time, there is not always a division of attack and defense. The Keyblade that appeared in the previous trailer transforms into a pair of crossbows for each hand and a bazooka. How a Keyblade transforms depends on the Keyblade.”

Nomura recently offered light details on Final Fantasy 7, saying the game will feature 'change,' but that no matter how much it changes the 'essence' of the universe will not. As for the new information on Final Fantasy VII Remake, Nomura expanded on the Guard Scorpion battle that was shown off recently:

“Rather than just ending it at that scaffold, we’ve made wide use of the space and developed a battle that takes advantage of the map’s characteristics where you’ll fight while switching between Cloud and Barret. For example, when there’s an enemy in a position that can’t be reached by Cloud’s sword, it’s more effective to switch to Barret. It’s becoming strategic in that way, as well. The Guard Scorpion will change modes in the middle of the battle and demonstrate behavior not in the original version. Also in this screenshot, it should be noted that missiles and such are coming down. It’s become a significantly flashy battle.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release in an undisclosed amount of parts (though Square Enix knows how many), with each part/episode being the size of Final Fantasy 13. The game mechanics have been going through "trial and error" and it has been confirmed that Cloud will still be able to cross-dress.

Neither Kingdom Hearts 3 nor Final Fantasy 7 have release dates at the moment.
