Not only does Kixeye have one of the funniest (and most disturbing) websites I've ever seen, but they sure as hell know how to make a recruiting video. As a company that makes Facebook multiplayer strategy games — the most popular being Backyard Monsters, Battle Pirates, and War Commander — they go head-to-head with Zynga. The San Francisco-based Kixeye has 250 employees and it growing at a rate of 20 new recruits a month. And after watching their recruitment video, it's understandable that Markus "Notch" Persson (@notch) tweeted:
In the video, which has some NSFW language, Kixeye mocks Zynga, EA, and Kabam as Janka, EAARP, and Kerpoop. Janka's CEO is a smartass little kid with a foul mouth that makes games for single women in bad cat sweaters that only cares about money. EAARP is an out-of-touch old guy that's about 25 years behind the rest of us. And Kerpoop's CEO is a monotone guy with no creativity that makes browser and mobile games.
A little more about Kixeye: they are expected to earn revenues exceeding $100 million this year. And while they have less players than Zynga's games like Farmville, they generate 20 to 40 times as much revenue per player.
Visit the Kixeye website and click around a little… it's weird but awesome. Make sure to click on the lobby bell multiple times to see some receptionist interaction. Also, go to 'Jobs' and take their "Are you one of us" quiz.
