Klei’s scorching parkour runner Hot Lava launches September 19 on PC

Klei Entertainment has announced the release date for their steamy parkour game Hot Lava. Gamers who want to relive their childhood memories of playing the floor is lava can look forward to September 19 when the game comes out on PC via Steam.

Announced more than three years ago, we wouldn’t hold it against you if you forgot that Hot Lava even exists. During that long development period, developer Klei steadily continued work on their imaginative parkour game. Jumping across deep crevices, clinging to ledges, keeping your momentum and avoiding falling into boiling hot lava is the name of the game here. Klei has literally put all children’s favorite fantasy game into digital form, so that gamers can once again relive their old memories.

With the game’s launch happening next week on Thursday, Hot Lava will come with plenty of content, but even if players finish all courses, the addition of Steam Workshop support means that the community will undoubtedly add great new content long after the credits have rolled. Even gamers who played Hot Lava to death in the recent beta can look forward to lots of new additions, such as the basement, achievements, unlockable items, and general bug fixes.

Here’s a rundown of Hot Lava’s features by the developer:

  • Together: Conquer challenging worlds with up to eight friends with drop in-drop out multiplayer.
  • Traverse: Run, jump, climb, swing, boost, and surf in first person across lava filled worlds. Mastering execution will take dedication and skill.
  • Explore: Detailed environments jam packed with childhood nostalgia.
  • Compete: To find the fastest route using shortcuts and expert execution on the friends leaderboard.
  • Avoid: lava, toxic waste, bottomless pits, and crushers. Danger is around every corner.
  • Create: Hot Lava comes with a level construction kit for Unity. Share your creations on the Steam Workshop.
