ANGELES, Calif., May 17, 2001 — Premier children’s software publisher, Knowledge Adventure,
will introduce a new line of Jurassic Park III software –including a tech-toy
enhanced computer game — at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Exposition
(E3). The 3Daction/adventure games for kids will be based on Universal
Pictures’ and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic Park III, the third
installment in the studio’s most successful film franchise ever. The
interactive titles will ship to retail this year, as part of Knowledge
Adventure’s worldwide licensing agreement with Universal Studios Consumer
Products Group. Jurassic Park III is scheduled to be released in theaters on
July 18, 2001.

 

Featuring realistic
dinosaurs from the movie, stunning graphics and innovative game play, the
entertainment products will transport kids into the authentic world of Jurassic
Park. The three diverse CD-ROM titles to be unveiled at the show include Scan Command: A
Jurassic Park III Game; Jurassic Park III: Danger Zone!; and Jurassic Park
III: Dino Defender.

 

The
Jurassic Park franchise has already enjoyed more than $250 million in
promotional support and$2.5 billion in worldwide consumer product sales,
establishing Jurassic Park as the “premier” and “authentic” dinosaur

When
InGen’s evil scientist takes over Jurassic Park with an army of ferocious
dinosaurs, kids take matters into their own hands by using handheld scanners
that turn everyday barcodes into dinosaur powers. Upload the special powers
into the computer game and create stronger, smarter, fiercer dinosaurs. Need
to conquer a T-Rex? Collect or trade a barcode for the Whiplash Attack.

Jurassic

A
raging typhoon has knocked down Jurassic Park’s electric fences allowing

mission challenges players to trap or tranquilize renegade dinosaurs and save

The Film

Jurassic Park
III continues the series begun with 1993’s Jurassic Park and its 1997
sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. This time, acclaimed filmmaker Joe
Johnston (October Sky, Jumanji) directs, with Kathleen Kennedy and Larry
Franco producing. Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer. The strong
cast includes Sam Neill, returning in the role of Dr. Alan Grant, which he
originated in Jurassic Park, William H. Macy (Fargo), Tea Leoni (The Family
Man), Alessandro Nivola (Love’s Labour Lost), Michael Jeter (The Green Mile)
and Trevor Morgan (The Patriot).

 

The screenplay
was written by Peter Buchman, based on characters created by Michael Richton.

Light & Magic are once again responsible for creating the visual effects,
