Koch Media together with its publishing label Deep Silver has announced that it has acquired the Homefront brand and "all coherent assets" from Crytek. Of course, this also includes the recently announced Homefront: The Revolution.
“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media Group. “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path they have been walking in the last years.”
This is actually the second time in as many years that the Homefront brand has undergone a change in owners. Crytek previously purchased the franchise in January 2013 from a bankrupt THQ. In June, they announced Homefront: The Revolution which was originally to be co-published by Crytek and Deep Silver.
As a result of the change in ownership, it now appears that development of Homefront: The Revolution will be taken over by the newly founded, Nottingham-based Deep Silver Dambuster Studios. This is the third development studio under Koch Media Group, joining Deep Silver Volition and Deep Silver Fishlabs. It's unclear if the change in ownership will have any impact on the development of Homefront: The Revolution which is slated to release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2015.
