Koji Igarashi & Inti Creates unveil Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2

Spin-off Sequel Sensation

Inti Creates and Koji Igarashi have shared the good news that Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is happening. The sequel to the surprisingly solid 8-bit spin-off for the spiritual successor of the Castlevania series is slated to launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You can watch the announcement trailer here!

In case the name confuses some, the game announced today is not a sequel to last year’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Before that game came out, Koji Igarashi and Inti Create released a little taste of what’s to come with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. A retro-inspired platformer set in the same universe that took the classic NES Castlevania games as its inspiration.

As a Kickstarter promise, what many expected to become quickly forgotten, instantly became a huge hit on its own. The thirst of gamers for quality Castelvania games was that high after all since IP holder Konami all but forsake the venerable franchise many years ago.

Players take control of Zangetsu, a swordsman from the far east who bears a deep grudge against demonkind. Zangetsu must battle his way to the demonic stronghold, but he doesn’t have to do it alone! Zangetsu can ally himself with a brand new cast of characters he meets along the way and add them to the playable roster.

That surprise success has now prompted the full-blown sequel Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2. There’s no word about the release date as of now but at least we know that no platform gets left behind, with Curse of the Moon 2 targeting pretty every major gaming platform under the sun.

Just as the original, a varied cast of playable characters returns to defeat evil once and for all. Well, that didn’t work that good in the past decades but it’s about the journey after all. The same nostalgic 8-bit art style is also apparent which ought to satiate fans of classic Castlevania games.
