Kojima dropped main voice actor to ‘re-create’ Metal Gear Solid series

Many fans have been wondering why series creator Hideo Kojima has excluded longtime voice actor David Hayter from Metal Gear Solid 5. According to Hayter, the voice of Snake/Big Boss in the English versions, he wasn't even asked.

During a televised interview on GameTrailers, Kojima clarified the issue.

"What we’re trying to accomplish is [to] re-create the Metal Gear series," he said. "It’s a new type of Metal Gear game, and we wanted to have this reflected in the voice actor as well.”

Kojima wouldn't say who the new voice actor would be.

Some gamers have organized a petition to bring Hayter back, but since this is a creative decision, a change at this point is unlikely.

Metal Gear Solid 5 consists of two games, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, telling two halves of a single story. Both will arrive for current-gen consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
