Yesterday, December 15th, it was revealed that Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear, had finally been relieved of his work at Konami, leaving many to speculate on his next move. Well, today it’s official been announced that Hideo Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions, will work in collaboration with Sony on a new game for PlayStation platforms.
President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, Andrew House made the announcement himself through a little short video, which you can watch below.
"PlayStation's history is one of game innovation and great new franchises," said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, in a release. "Hideo Kojima has been a huge part of that history, and we are therefore delighted that he has chosen to bring his brand new project to life in partnership with PlayStation. We look forward to working with him on an exciting new game and warmly welcome him to the PlayStation family.”
In addition to the announcement of the partnership, the Kojima Productions site is already up and running. On the site, you can find the company's new logo, which also could be seen above, and a heartfelt message to all his fans, check it out here. The site also has a slew of career opportunities for you to work alongside the brilliant game designer Hideo Kojima; jobs vary from artists, programmers, and designers.
Within the last couple of months there has been plenty of back and forth between Konami and Kojima, most recently, Konami barred Kojima from attending the Game Awards to collect his award for The Phantom Pain winning the best action/adventure game of 2015 category.
