Legendary game creator Hideo Kojima unleashed the official box art for his newest game Death Stranding. During his panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kojima also showed off the sweet art for the special steelbook version of his game, too. The steelbook version will be available in the Special Edition and Collector’s Edition. Here they are.
Visionary creator Hideo Kojima took to the stage at San Diego Comic-Con for panel dedicated to the legendary Japanese designer himself called “Hideo Kojima: Master Storyteller”. There, Kojima not only presented the two box arts shown above for his PlayStation 4 exclusive new IP Death Stranding but gave insight about the development. One fascinating tidbit is the fact that Keanu Reeves could very well have ended up taking the part of Mad Mikkelsen but Kojima prefered to have Mad in the end.
Typically for Kojima, his new game Death Stranding still is shrouded in mystery despite several trailers and descriptions released. It’s more about the many great, industry-influencing titles Kojima has produced in the past which lead to millions of gamers being confident that his new project will deliver – while confuse at the same time.
There’s no reason to create something that’s already there. I want to create something that gives more inspiration to the world. Like Hollywood movies where some don’t live with you, people just digest and consume. What I do is make something that’s difficult to chow down when you digest my work. What happens when I release my game or when Nicolas releases a movie, we get criticism or praise. But you think about it ten years later, same as Bladerunner or 2001: Space Odyssey. – Hideo Kojima
Death Stranding is set to come out exclusively for the PlayStation 4 this November 8, marking the return of Kojima to Sony’s console with an exclusive title after Metal Gear Solid in 1998.
