Konami is challenging Hell for the title of “Least desirable place to be”

Thanks to Thomas James (@iiotenki), we've been given a glimpse into the nightmare that is Konami. The ongoing saga of a legendary Japanese developer's fall from grace has started to read like a sad, disgusting joke in poor taste.

The most repulsive section describes how employees that are deemed useless to the company are relegated to assembly line work, positions as security guards, or janitorial duty at Konami fitness clubs. This is all done as a means to demoralize undesirable employees into quitting, so the company wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of firing them..

An example given is how one person made a Facebook post about leaving the poisonous company, and all Konami employees that liked said post were given these reassignments. This type of petty bull shit isn't reserved for the rank and file employees either. If you're a fan of any classic Konami games, there's a chance that the creative minds behind it were forced into jobs that include cleaning toilets, wiping up sweat, and patrolling hallways.

The gaming public hates them, they no longer offer anything of value to core gamers, and their properties are better off in the hands of others. The repulsive way they've been handling their exit is made all the sadder by the fact Konami had done so much good for gaming in the past.

If you want to read more about Konami treating its employees like prisoners and creating the all around most toxic environment in the industry, you can find Thomas James's summary here.
