Konami has released an updated version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's box art (spotted by NeoGaf) and it's missing Hideo Kojima's name, again.
In the beginning of the year, Konami slowly began erasing the game creator, writer, and director of the Metal Gear series. Konami was removing Hideo Kojima's and his production company, Kojima Productions, from the box art of his highly anticipated game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, his name removed from the executive list at the company and his name disassociated with the game series' social account.
It seemed as though Konami and Kojima had split up and it turned out that they definitely did end their partnership.
A month after disassociating Kojima's name from Metal Gear products, Konami put Kojima's name back on to the official box art for Metal Gear games. As the game series creator and director, who worked first-hand on developing the games, it felt right to see Kojima's name back on the Metal Gear games.
Once again, Konami has removed Kojima's name from the box art for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Recent reports have come in from Akio Otskuka, Snake's Japanese voice actor, saying the Kojima Productions has now completely dissolved. Konami has assured fans that they will continue making Metal Gear games without Kojima, but it seems as though they will be erasing him from the game's past as well.
The trailer above is the last trailer for the Metal Gear series produced by Kojima.
