Earlier this month, widespread rumors of Konami abandoning all AAA game development except for Pro Evolution Soccer made their away across the internet. While evidence certainly points to these rumors being true, Konami Senior UK Community Manager Graham Day denied the reports, while offering a more optimistic outlook when asked about the subject.
"Don't believe everything you read in the press," he told Game on Daily. "That's never changed. Things have been taken out of context but that's never changed.
Not only did Day warn against believing "everything you read in the press," he also used PES 2016's tagline to describe the future of Konami.
"Konami has a history of making the best games around and that is something that will continue," Day assured. "That won't change anything going forward. So people should believe in Konami, and if I was to use a tagline, PES 2016's tagline is 'Love the past, play the future'. And that is there for a reason. The future isn't ending now. The future has a long, long way."
Despite Day's comments, actions speak louder than words. And so far, each of Konami's actions have pointed to a bleak future.
