Since 2005, Konami has been the parent company of Hudson Soft, owning 54% of the publisher and developer. Details surfaced regarding Konami’s complete absorption of the company behind the recently released Bomberman Live: Battlefest and the less appealing Deca Sports games.
Reports have stated that a stock swap will take place, and that Hudson will officially be completely owned by Konami. Michihiro Ishizuka, CEO of Hudson, will be resigning from his position in the company on March 31, and will be replaced by Konami’s Kazuhiko Uehara.
Konami plans on using the resources at Hudson to develop stronger games and release entries in some of the company’s most popular franchises. A possible name change is currently being discussed. Here’s hoping this takeover results in the end of the Deca Sports series.
