Konami’s Classic X-Men Arcade Game Coming to XBLA and PSN

Today at the Marvel panel at New York Comic-Con, it was announced that Konami is reviving its classic X-Men arcade game. The side-scrolling beat-em-up will be released as a digital download on both Xbox LIVE Arcade and the Playstation Network.

Originally released in 1992, X-Men featured six popular members of the mutant superhero team as playable characters – Cyclops, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler and Dazzler. Together, players could band together to take on the Sentinels, Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants and rescue Professor X and Kitty Pryde.

According to Kotaku, the port will have drop-in online multiplayer that will support up to six players, as well as varying difficulty levels.

There is no word yet on when the port will be released or how much it’ll cost. But I’m betting it’ll probably be cheaper than the amount of quarters I spent beating the game with a friend back in 1992.
