L.A. Noire gets first VR screenshots and details; VR delayed to December

Six years ago, Rockstar Games published a very unique game in comparison to the other titles under their umbrella called L.A. Noire. The game was developed by an Australian studio named Team Bondi and it was a gritty detective game set in Hollywood during the 1940s. Team Bondi developed the game with an insane amount of detail with lots of various props, geography accurate to L.A. during the 1940s, and characters with realistic facial movement.

The game was a bit held back by the consoles it was released on but Rockstar has taken it upon themselves to update the games for current consoles and even release a new VR version on PC. The VR version will include 7 specific cases completely rebuilt for VR. It was originally scheduled to release on November 14th but has been delayed to an unspecified date in December.

Some new details have emerged thanks to some members of the press getting hands on with the game. For one, driving is like actually driving a car. You put the key in and turn it, steer with your hands, and can even shoot out the window by steering with one hand and holding the gun with the other thanks to the motion controllers. Additionally, players will be able to move using the tradtional VR locomotion alternative in the form of teleporting to spots or they can move their arms up and down like they're walking on a treadmill to walk from place to place.

Players will even be asked to demonstrate their boxing skills when they have to go toe to toe with criminals who won't surrender to the arm of the law, you'll have to pick up your arms and block or swing them to connect blows. You can also pick up and interact with 500 different props which have been given new animations and physics or make Cole Phelps look like a fool by throwing objects like a maniac or by doing the macarana.

If you're curious to see what the game looks like in VR, you can view some screenshots below.

L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is scheduled to release in December on the HTC Vive. The console remaster will release with all cases, including the DLC ones, on November 14th for Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
