Coming fresh off the announcement that Kinect for Windows PC will be available February 1st, PC manufacturer Asus is rumored to be collaborating with Microsoft on a new laptop featuring a built-in Kinect sensor.
The Daily claims to have seen prototypes of Asus netbooks running Windows 8 and featuring an "array of small sensors" lined up above the screen, presumably where the webcam would be.
According to the report, a "source at Microsoft" has confirmed that the devices are "official prototypes" of laptops featuring the built-in Kinect sensor. The report adds that Microsoft will likely license the Kinect technology to hardware manufacturers.
Kinect for Windows is currently priced at $249 as a standalone, so it'll be interesting to see the cost of one of these netbooks. If rumors are true, this is just further proof that Microsoft is seriously about bringing Xbox LIVE across all platforms and putting all the entertainment people want "at their fingertips".N
