Yesterday, Bungie released its weekly hotfix for Destiny, bringing a ton of changes to weapon balance across the various archetypes. Among the changes were lowering Auto Rifle effectivness and increasing Scout Rifle damage output. Even a few Exotic weapons — the Vex Mythoclast and Pocket Infinity — were addressed. But Bungie isn't finished with the game balancing just yet.
"We're still working on a larger update which will address under-performing Exotics and overall class balance." -Destiny Dev Team

The tweet echoes that of which Bungie previously said when they spoke about weapon balancing in Destiny in September.
"Our goal when balancing Destiny is to never have one player choice– for example a choice of class or weapon– either be so much better than the alternatives that it is the only valid choice or to be so much worse that it would always be a mistake to choose," Bungie explained. "When we are successful with this kind of balance the result is a wide set of equally compelling player builds, some of which may be preferred by one player or another but none of which is an absolute right or wrong choice."
In that post, Bungie mentioned that Exotic Weapons are "designed to look, feel and sound overpowered, but to not actually break the game."
"We hope these weapons challenge the way players think about their loadouts and expect their idiosyncrasies to sometimes be a little frustrating. We find ourselves wanting to collect them all and hope players feel the same way," Bungie said at the time, admitting that not all of Destiny's Exotic Weapons are living up to the expectations of fans — particularly the Bad Juju and Iron Thorn which "have disappointed many of us who have gone through the great effort to obtain them because, despite looking and sounding amazing, they feel underpowered."
So while this week's hotfix did address the overpoweredness of some Exotics, it didn't give the weaker weapons the buff they desperately need. Bungie has said in the past that "their time will come," so don't shard them just yet.
We don't know when the next update will arrive, but as always keep a close eye on any announcements Bungie makes.
