Laser trucks are becoming a pew pew reality

“My lasers will cut through your defenses like a hot knife through butter.”

Laser America is becoming a ‘thing.’ I’m sorry, but I can’t think of “Laser Trucks” without thinking of “Pinpoint” Townes the Laser General from Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour.  A laser truck is no Laser Crusader Tank… but I’d say it’s defiantly a step in the right direction.

The US military and Boeing has developed the High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator or HEL MD for short.  This name makes me think of Hell Medical Doctor which I have to admit sounds pretty damn awesome.  What exactly is a laser truck?  Well, it’s a military truck with a giant military grade laser attached to the roof.  It looks like this:

Yea, pretty sweet.  The purpose of this bad boy is actually more defensive than offensive.  What better way to shoot down incoming missiles than a projectile that can travel THE SPEED OF LIGHT.  This laser will go from truck to missile at 186,000 miles per hour.  Oh yea, and since it’s a laser it has near infinite ammo since it’s all power based.

Knowing is half the battle, the other half is lasers.
