Layoffs confirmed at BioShock developer Irrational Games

BioShock Infinite developer Irrational Games has confirmed layoffs at the studio. A statement was sent over to Kotaku, which reads:

In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of 8 employees today. Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best.P

It's unclear what the employees' roles were at the studio, but Irrational insists the layoffs will not affect the development of the game's upcoming DLC "in any way." Irrational has already released the first piece of add-on content, a series of combat challenges called Clash in the Clouds, but everyone is awaiting the highly anticipated Burial at Sea content, a two-part release that will take gamers back to the underwater city of Rapture.
