Lead writer for Mass Effect back at BioWare

He's not working on the game you think he his.

Drew Karpyshyn, the writer behind the original Mass Effect game, its sequel, Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: The Old Republic is back with BioWare. Karpyshyn revealed his return through a blog post on his personal site:

As of this past week, I am back working at BioWare again! For those who don’t know, I spent over a decade with BioWare working on many award winning and fan-beloved games like Mass Effect 1&2, Knights of the Old Republic and the Star Wars: The Old Republic Online MMO.

While Karpyshyn has done amazing things for Mass Effect in the past – he will not be returning to the series.  "I suspect a lot of folks are going to wonder if this means BioWare is about to announce a new project tied to my return," said Karpyshyn. "The short answer: no. I originally came to the Austin studio many years ago to work on SWTOR and – at least for now – that’s what I’m focusing on again."

That's right, Karpyshyn will be working on Star Wars: The Old Republic, not Mass Effect: Andromeda or a new game, this probably means an expansion for the MMO. There's a chance that Karpyshyn could switch projects, but for now that's where BioWare stuck him.

Be strong, hold back the tears.

No tears
