Developer Riot Games has added a new menu option that allows players to hide "eye candy" in League of Legends.
No, I'm not talking about covering up League's more risqué, but rather disabling some of the background noise — "things like butterflies, dragonflies and the water wakes". The move, according to Riot, is designed "to help competitive players focus on what they care about, the gameplay." And the boobs, of course. Kitty Katarina, amirite?
"It should have a slight impact on performance," added Riot's JeX. "But honestly not enough that it's worth toggling on for that. Setting your video quality to the lower settings will make a much bigger difference than this toggle."
When asked how this compared to removing distractions athletes may face in real-life stadium environments, such as fans distracting players during free kicks and penalties, JeX defended,"As a video game, we're not bound by the same set of problems and if we can improve competitive integrity by making an easy change like this, I believe we should."
A release date for the option has not been announced, but the changes should go live in the next PBE (Public Beta Environment) deployment.
