League of Legends’ Maokai getting visual update

Riot Games announced today that Maokai, the Twisted Treant, is the next champion in League of Legends to be getting an update. It's just a visual update, though, so while his abilities will look different, they'll still operate the same way.

"Just like Singed, Maokai’s rig was in a fairly good spot while the rest of his look was a bit… well… old," Riot explained. "So we changed it up, updating his model, textures, spell effects, and a few of his animations on his base model and each of his skins!"

Earlier this month, Riot discussed a new champion updating strategy that allows them to tackle multiple redesigns of varying scope at once. In addition to Maokai, other champions under the knife include Tristana and Poppy.
