As we begin Season 4 of the League of Legends LCS (League Championship Series) developer Riot Games has shed light on the first update of 2014, patch 4.1. "We’re still closely watching the state of the game as it evolves with the preseason, and this update is just another step down that path," Riot's Christ Tom said in a blog post.
To that end, the general theme of patch 4.1 is "more refinement and tuning," he added. "We’re in the process of de-fogging more of those outliers like Shyvana, Riven and Annie. That said, now that the dust has settled we can also take another look at modernizing certain items (the Spirit line of jungle items, for example) and systems (2v1 lane swaps)." The full list of character and game changes can be viewed in the patch notes.
Changes and tweaks aside, the 2014 ranked season reset will take place "within the next few days." The LCS kicked off yesterday with a group of European teams facing off. On Friday, the North American teams will take to Summoner's Rift on their quest to become the champions of Season 4.
