League of Legends ‘Refer-a-Friend 2.0’ unveiled

Riot Games has announced the new version of the League of Legends Refer-a-Friend program.

The new program is designed to help spread the word about League of Legends to all friends, family, acquaintances and anyone else looking to join the MOBA frenzy.

The new perks of Refer-a-Friend 2.0 are as follows:

  • User friendly referrals – Your friends can simply enter your summoner name or email at the time they sign up. You can also send your friends your unique referral code via email or through your preferred instant messaging service.
  • Earn IP for every referral – Every time one of your referrals reaches Level 5 you’ll be the proud recipient of a 250 IP bounty.
  • Milestone rewards – When your friends reach Level 10 they’ll earn you points toward even more exciting rewards like exclusive skins, forum titles, Riot Points and more!

Milestone rewards for when you friend hits level 10 include 500 IP and a recruiter forum title and badge.  If you can somehow persuade 25 friends to reach level 10 you will earn an exclusive Grey Warwick Skin, Warwick Champion and Senior Recruiter Forum Title.  50 friends will land you Medieval Twitch (honestly, who plays Twitch these days?)

For those who have been keeping up with the "old" referral program, Riot has not forgotten about you.  You can transfer over to the new system and get some instant rewards, or you can remain in the original program and pursue those rewards if you prefer.

I know I've done my part.  In just the past week, I've introduced two new co-workers to the game!  Have you done yours?
