League of Legends Snowdown brings the Legend of the Poro King game mode

Snowdown 2014 has arrived in League of Legends, and as expected it has brought a new mode with it.  After training all year, the poros — tired of hiding in the brush of Howling Abyss — are joining the fray in Legend of the Poro King.

This brand new mode, temporarily available during the length of Snowdown 2014, sees two poro friends following you into the fight. Each poro grants a summoner spell exclusive to this mode: "Poro Toss" and "To the King!". Before we begin here's what each does:

Poro Toss

Cast Poro Toss once and sling your smaller poro across the Abyss. The range is way, way longer than you expect. And don’t worry, the poros love a good toss. After landing a hit, trigger Poro Toss again to Poro Dash, flying to your poro’s target. It’s like Lee Sin’s Q, but more endearing. Finally, when your team lands ten Poro Tosses, you summon the Poro King.

To the King!

When the Poro King is on the scene and your team, activate To the King! to poro-fy yourself and rocket to your liege. It’s like Lee Sin’s Safeguard, but more endearing.

These little poros are key to summoning the Poro King, a super minion that heals your team, regenerates mana and deals AoE damage while punishing enemy towers.

So how do you spawn the Poro King? It's quite simple actually. Every time your Poro Toss is off cooldown, you're going to want to use it, because the first team to rack up ten poro smacks receives a royal visit from the Poro King.

In addition to the fun you'll have while playing Legend of the Poro King, this special mode also offers the chance to snag three unique icons:

Snowdown Stylin'

REWARD: Slay Bell Surprise Icon

Win a round of Legend of the Poro King with a Snowdown skin on.

REWARD: INCOMING PORO! Icon

Tag an enemy five times with Poro Toss. Use To the King once! Win a game of Legend of the Poro King.

REWARD: Icon of the Poro King

Tag an enemy 150 times with Poro Toss. Summon the King Poro 65 times.
