By all accounts so far, the LEGO Batman movie is shaping up to be one of the funniest movies of the year. The newest TV spot for the film only adds to the idea with Robin doing anything for a hug.
An all-star voice cast led by Wil Arnett as Batman, Michael Cera as Robin and Zach Galifinakis as Joker, the classic LEGO humor is on full display. We can see from previous trailers that Batman appears bored with his lack of family and being alone, so it will be interesting how Warner presents the usual jokes tied into this story arc. In the LEGO Batman movie, the caped crusader adopts a son (Robin). After thinking it's a joke, his paternal instincts seem to kick in as Robin comes along for the ride. Rosario Dawson, Mariah Carey and Billy Dee Williams are also in the film.
The mayor wants to work with Batman now instead of treating him like an outlaw vigilante, and Batman doesn't seem to want any part of it. The official breakdown of the film is as follows
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
The LEGO Batman movie hits theaters on February 10th.
