LEGO Dimensions expansions include Portal 2, Doctor Who, The Simpsons and more

When LEGO Dimensions was first announced, we were promised expansion packs featuring "well-known properties". At the time, only a few franchises were linked to the game — Back to the Future, Batman, Lord of the Rings, and maybe a few others.

Over the weekend, though, an official instruction sheet for the Dimensions' Back to the Future Level Pack, gave us our first glimpse of future filled with all sorts of popular franchises planned for the entertainment experience "that breaks the rules of traditional gaming" by merging physical LEGO brig building with interactive video games. Included on this sheet were images of other yet-to-be-announced expansion packs.

Four different Level Packs were spotted. These expansions, which feature characters, scenery, and their own interactive levels to play in, are for Portal 2, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, and The Simpsons. We all knew Dimensions would be huge — if only for the fact we've seen so much success with Disney Infinity and Skylanders, and this is pretty much a blatant (but awesome) ripoff — but LEGO must've really done some work to acquire such varied franchises.

It gets crazier, though. Also spotted were Team packs — seemingly geared towards two-player gameplay — for franchises like Jurassic World, Scooby-Doo, and Ninjago.

And then, there were 18 different "Fun Packs" revealed. These are, as the name suggests, just a random assortment of characters and vehicles that add variety and fun to your game. We've got characters from Ninjago, the Lord of the Rings, Chima, The Simpsons (Krusty the Clown), The Wizard of Oz (the Wicked Witch), and The LEGO Movie (Unikitty).

Get ready to spend some money folks, because you know this isn't the end of the list.

LEGO Dimensions will be available for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. The Starter Pack is priced at $99.99 with Expansion Packs seemingly priced around $29.99.
