Lego Dimensions has three year plan for characters and expansions

As you may know, Lego Dimensions is out this Sunday, Sept. 27 and is Warner Bros. with TT Games' entry into the toys to life genre ala Disney Infinity and Skylanders. There are also going to be multiple worlds available other than the starter pack that you can unlock with those characters and will have you making difficult decisions as in "pay the car note or get some cool Lego?"

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, the people behind the game spoke on just how big they expect Lego Dimensions to get and revealed a three year plan cycle for the rollout of new toys. Mark Warburton, the Exec. Producer, stated that

"We have a three year plan at the moment and we've got no intention of stopping there. We've created the technology to the degree that we're happy it meets our needs for the future. We've created the toy pad so that it shouldn't need to be updated. And we can just create new level and character packs to keep expanding that."
They also ensured that the much coveted 100% and Platinum trophy will be able to be obtained just from the starter pack and not having to buy any other add on level packs. Similar to other games like Lego Marvel Super Heroes, etc, everything can be earned without buying a single piece of DLC.
With the starter pack price of $99 then additional prices for world packs, individual characters as well as team packs (two characters and vehicle), the launch price of everything on release day is about $740. Yes, you read that correctly. $740. Don't believe us, go ahead and look at the official listing here at Gamestop
