Yes, Lego Minifigures Online is happening, and beta registration is now open at the official website.
The closed beta test will continue until launch next year, developer Funcom announced today. An open beta test will follow prior to launch, and anyone registered for the first beta can participate in the second. Lego Minifigures Online is launching for PC, iOS, and Android.
Players get to explore pirate, space, medieval, and other themed worlds as they collect and power up minifigures, which will also be available for purchase as physical versions with codes. It's kind of like the popular Skylanders or Disney Infinity games, except in a massively multiplayer online setting. So who knows — maybe this could take off.
This is the second attempt to sustain a Lego MMO.
