LEGO The Hobbit release date announced; PS3 bundle revealed

Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed today that LEGO: The Hobbit, the latest LEGO game inspired by the first two Hobbit films, will be released on April 8 in North America.

Though the game has been announced for just about every platform, Sony has revealed a brand new PS3 bundle with the game. In what seems like an unlikely pairing, the new LEGO The Hobbit PS3 Bundle comes with a 500GB PS3 system and LEGO The Hobbit. It's priced at $269. Sony has a spring release window listed for the bundle, but I'm assuming it'll be available for purchase on the day of the game's release.

In the game, players traverse through Middle-earth, joining Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield and more, on a quest to reclaim the lost Kingdom of Erebor from the Dragon Smaug. Throughout the game, you'll visit key locations from the films and play as familiar characters.
