LEGO: The Hobbit trailer looks like some blocky fun

Gather 'round Dwarves and Hobbitses, we've got the first official trailer for LEGO The Hobbit, the blocky video game adaptation of the movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's wonderful stories.

LEGO The Hobbit follows Bilbo, Gandalf, and the Dwarves of Erebor through their journey through the first two films in The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, which released this weekend in theaters. Though I've yet to actually see the second film, Warner Bros. and TT Games has done a decent job of explaining what awaits.

Players will follow Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Players will utilize and combine the Dwarves’ unique abilities – often with hilarious results – to solve the most diverse Quests of any LEGO videogame to date.

LEGO The Hobbit doesn't yet have a firm release date, just sometime in 2014, but we do know it'll be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, and PC.
