Princess Leia’s Hutt-Slayer costume is easily one of the most recognizable outfits in cinema. Essentially a metal bikini with a chain collar and a burgundy slit skirt, the costume was worn by Carrie Fisher for 1983’s Return of the Jedi and is a mainstay of the cosplay world and Halloween.
Somehow, we assumed that the original would have been in a museum, or at least one of those glass cases at a Hard Rock cafe somewhere, given it’s a legitimate artifact of film history, but nope. It was actually recently sold to an anonymous bidder at an auction recently and fetched a cool $96,000.
However, the famous slave girl bikini was upstaged when a miniature of the Tantive IV Blockade Runner, Princess Leia’s ship, sold for $450,000.
