Level-5's partnership with Studio Ghibli has resulted in one of the most beautiful-looking RPGs we've seen in quite some time. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is truly a sight to behold, and it looks just like a wondrous work of animation.
It seems as if Ni no Kuni may not be the only game that comes from Level-5 and Studio Ghibli, though. While nothing is set in stone just yet, we could see a future collaboration between the two companies somewhere along the road.
During a group interview, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino stated that the developer would like to work with the animation studio again. "If there is a potential opportunity to work with them again, yes, we'd like to work on some joint projects with them in the future — if there is, of course, a possibility," Hino told Joystiq.
When asked if there were any Ghibli films he'd like to adapt into video games, the Level-5 head mentioned Castle in the Sky. Well, considered me (and countless others, I'm sure) super hopeful that this will happen. I watched Castle in the Sky for the first time this year, and I was amazed. The steampunk themes, the art, the characters — everything combined to create what can only be called a masterpiece in animation film.
Let's hope this happens.
