Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases today on Steam

Square made a bold decision when it decided to tack on time limit-based gameplay on the final act of Lightning's trilogy. After all, putting a time limit on gamers is usually associated with stress, making the whole experience far less satisfying. But for some reason it worked. I had the chance to review Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII back when it launched on last-gen consoles and found the game to be actually quite good.

Today, PC gamers will be able to conclude the trilogy on Steam, as Lightning Returns makes its debut. Like the preceeding games, it will be enhanced for PC, allowing for 60fps gameplay as well as a host of graphical options. It will also come with all of the previous DLC, including costumes, weapons, shields as well as a Japanese voiceover track. The only DLC missing, sadly, is the Aerith costume. WHY SQUARE, WHY?!

You'll be able to buy Lightning Returns today for $17.99 (discounted from $19.99). Also, if you're a fan of old-school Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy VI will be launching on Steam next week.
