Back in November, Nintendo confirmed that Linkle would be officially coming to Hyrule Warriors Legends, the Nintendo 3DS version of the Wii U hack-and-slash Hyrule Warriors. Linkle had been hinted at back in June, but it was the first time Nintendo addressed her appearance in upcoming games.
Since the official reveal Nintendo has been a bit more forthcoming with speaking on Linkle. In fact, Linkle could very well make an appearance in future Zelda games.
“I'm sure we will keep her in mind when thinking about future titles,” said Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma to IGN in an email interview before going on to speak more on the character. “It may feel a little different from other titles in the franchise, but she doesn’t feel out of place at all in the world of the Zelda games.”
As for how Linkle plays in Hyrule Warriors Legends, well, it turns out that Koei Tecmo helped Nintendo out with her crossbow mechanics.
“I had a chance to give feedback on Linkle during development, but the satisfying action of using a crossbow, which we developed for the spinoff title Link's Crossbow Training, was implemented this time completely by Koei Tecmo,” Aonuma said.
That's all the information Aonuma offered on the subject, but something is more than nothing.
