LINKS
2001 COURSE DESIGNER BETA SIGN-UP BEGINS TOMORROW

Winners
Eligible to Participate in the Arnold Palmer Course Designer Screen Shot
Challenge

Microsoft
today announced that at an undisclosed time on Friday, July 14, gamers will be
able to sign up for the chance to win a preview beta copy of the Links 2001
Arnold Palmer Course Designer at http://www.microsoft.com/games/links2001/
, or any of the 13 participating sites around the Web. All beta winners will
then be eligible to participate in the Links 2001 Arnold Palmer Course
Designer Screen Shot Challenge, which runs until August 21, 2000. The Arnold
Palmer Course Designer (APCD) provides users with the power and versatility to
accurately recreate their home course in a powerful real-time 3D system, using
the same tools employed by the Links 2001 team.

A
select group of gamers will win exclusive beta copies for this highly
anticipated new addition to the Links series. Would-be duffers will want to
check the sites frequently, as the forms will be posted at an unspecified
time. The official Links 2001 site lists all of the participating sites
hosting the contest. Twenty lucky winners will be chosen from each
participating site, including the game’s official site and the LS Tour site at
http://www.lstour.com/.

Beta
winners will have the chance to create their dream courses months before the
game hits store shelves. Arnold Palmer Course Designer beta winners will
receive:

*
A copy of the APCD beta and manual

*
Access to the Zone.com beta lobby for multiplayer matchmaking

*
Access to a private beta-testing newsgroup to provide feedback on the APCD

*
Exclusive entry into the Links 2001 Arnold Palmer Course Designer Screen Shot
Challenge

*
A copy of the Links 2001 beta when it becomes available in August

The
Links 2001 Arnold Palmer Course Designer Screen Shot Challenge is open to all
APCD beta winners, including those who reside outside of North America. To
participate, gamers must build a hole using the APCD beta and take a screen
shot of it. They must then submit the screen shot for judging by members of
the Links 2001 course design team, and the winner of the APCD Screen Shot
Challenge will receive a unique trophy in recognition of their achievement.
Recipients of the APCD beta will be notified of rules and details.

Visitors
to the official Links 2001 site can download and view an in-game video
featuring the Arnold Palmer Course Designer. Players can tweak every inch of
fairway with the APCD and create tunnels and arches with full control over
each point on the course. A robust library of trees, shrubs and other
vegetation allows players to sort for the climate and season that fit their
home course, or they can import their own custom images. To view the video, go
